The Regional Round of the Economics Olympiad was held in seven regions – 464 students competing for the national final

On, 13th February 2026, the Regional Round of the Economics Olympiad was successfully held, organized simultaneously across seven regions of North Macedonia. At this stage, 464 students and more than 65 mentor professors participated, representing a total of 20 cities and 61 high schools. Earlier, in the school round, 3,170 students from across the country took part, a record number that demonstrates the growing interest of young people in economics and analytical thinking.

The competition was organized in cooperation with several higher education institutions: South East European University – Skopje; University Goce Delchev– Shtip; St. Kliment Ohridski University, within the framework of the Prilep region; University of Tetova for the regions of Kumanovo and Tetovo; International University of Struga for the regions of Gostivar and Struga; as well as Alliance Française – Bitola.

These figures are not just statistics. They show that young people are ready to engage seriously when they are offered a high quality and challenging platform.

The best students from all seven regions will qualify for the National Round, which will be held in April at the South East European University in Tetovo. The top three students from each region will receive valuable prizes: a laptop, a tablet, and a smartwatch. From among the national finalists, the five most successful students will represent North Macedonia at the International Economics Olympiad, which this year will take place in August in Ancient Olympia, Greece.

“The success of the Olympiad depends on the dedication of teachers, the support of schools and institutions, but equally important is the active involvement of the private sector,” added Ceka. “Investing in young talent is not only a social responsibility, but a strategic investment in the country’s economic development. We believe the business community plays a key role in motivating and supporting these young people.”

The Economics Olympiad is part of the global network of the International Economics Olympiad and is organized by Liberal Alternative Institute, in partnership with Economic Fundamentals Initiative – USA.

Through this activity, the Economics Olympiad continues to consolidate its role as a national platform for identifying, supporting, and promoting new talent in the field of economics.Top of Form
