Economics Olympiad Event Leaves Attendees Inspired and Motivated

The Southeast European University in Tetovo was abuzz with intellectual excitement as the highly anticipated Economics Olympiad event, organized by the Liberal Alternative Institute, unfolded on June 24th. Participants and attendees were treated to a full day of stimulating activities, inspiring talks, and insightful discussions that left a lasting impact.

The event kicked off with the National Round of Economics Olympiad, showcasing the talents of 50 students from North Macedonia. These brilliant young minds engaged in a fierce competition, displaying their in-depth knowledge and problem-solving skills in various economic scenarios. Their dedication and expertise were truly commendable, reflecting a promising future for the field of economics.

The EconlitX Talks, held in a TEDx-style format, were the highlight of the event. Esteemed speakers captivated the audience with their thought-provoking presentations, shedding light on diverse economic topics and pushing the boundaries of conventional thinking. Prof. Dr. Hyrije Abazi, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at UEJL, inspired attendees with insights on empowering oneself for economic mastery. Prof. Dr. Visar Vokrri, Program Director at the Riinvest Institute in Kosovo, emphasized the importance of evidence-based policymaking in shaping the global economic landscape. Valdeta Thaci, CEO of iLEAD Swiss Institute, shared her remarkable journey as a female entrepreneur, highlighting the key steps to achieving success. Durim Zeqiri, Executive Director of OEMVP, emphasized the power of networking in professional growth and explored the potential it holds for unlocking new opportunities. Prof. Dr. Gadaf Rexhepi, a member of the Council of the National Bank of North Macedonia, delved into the barriers to innovation faced by young individuals and proposed strategies to overcome them.

The event also featured a compelling panel discussion on the impact of economic education and innovation in creating sustainable growth and development. The distinguished panelists, including Academic Abdylmenaf Bexheti (Rector of UEJL), Prof. Dr. Alban Hashani (Executive Director of the Riinvest Institute in Kosovo), and Prof. Dr. Jeton Shaqiri (Minister of Education and Science), shared their invaluable insights and engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas. The discussion highlighted the significance of economic education and innovation as catalysts for progress.

As the event neared its conclusion, the grand ceremony took place, where the top five winners of the Economics Olympiad were honored and awarded for their exceptional performance. Additionally, the top three of the regional round from all 5 regions were awarded gifts for their achievements.  The atmosphere was filled with joy, celebration, and a sense of accomplishment as these talented individuals were recognized for their outstanding achievements.
